Welcome to Lost Creek

Some patients arrive with someone beside them. Others pause at the door, deciding whether their problem is worth mentioning. A young wolf holds one paw carefully off the ground. An older neighbor insists they were only passing by, then sits down with a question they have carried all week. In The Pack Healer, you make room for them all.

Lost Creek is a small city in the Texas Hill Country — limestone hills, oak-covered trails, a courthouse square, and Sinclair Ranch west of town, home to a pack of some 225 wolf shifters living ordinary, modern lives. Most humans have no idea shifters exist. Your healer is one of them: trained in traditional wolf care, working from a small clinic, and trusted with the pack's everyday hurts, worries, and turning points.

This is a solo journaling roleplaying game. There is no game master and no required amount to write: a few lines can hold a visit, and a longer scene can follow when you want one.

What you need

  • A standard 52-card deck, jokers removed — cards select patient cases only
  • One six-sided die (D6)
  • A journal or note-taking app, and something to write with

How a season plays

  1. Create your healer. Roll one die each for your specialty (Herbal Care, Calm & Comfort, Pups & Young…), your clinic (the Ranch Infirmary, a Treeline Cabin, a Garden Cottage…), and your background — or simply choose the ones that call to you.
  2. Draw a card. Every card in the deck is one of 52 patient cases — Thorn in the Paw, The Missing Scent, Shift-Lock, a mate-bond ache, a homesick heart. No case repeats within a season.
  3. Roll the die. One D6 roll selects your treatment path for the visit. Higher rolls mean a more involved visit — never better or worse care.
  4. Write the visit. Record the care, the exact roll, and what stayed with you, guided by each case's journal cue. Draw a King and you may take the optional King's Challenge for a more demanding visit.
  5. Close the season. Twelve visits complete a season. Your rolls add up to your Season Challenge Score and one of three closing reflections — a Gentle Season, Turning Points, or a Demanding Season. Then shuffle the deck: your healer's story continues into the next season.
